Place : IMI Auditorium(W1-D-413) and Live streaming with zoom
Speaker : Akira NISHIHARA (retired mathematics teacher)
Title : Geometric toys from mathematics
Abstract :
Geometry is full of figures, and their realization as real objects is both educational and beautiful. Also, things that move or transform have potential as kinetic art. In this lecture, I will introduce toy-like objects that transform and move based on the torus, polyhedron, Lissajous curves, etc. Many of them have been created by the speaker for more than 20 years. I would also like to exhibit the objects introduced in the lecture and demonstrate how they move and transform.
