Title: Quantum Error Correction and Gauge Theory
Abstract:
In general, computers can exhibit errors due to interactions with the environment. Quantum error correction (QEC) provides a framework for correcting errors in quantum computers while it is known that a satisfactory implementation of QEC requires substantial computational resources. It is therefore highly important to explore quantum error-correction methods that are easier to implement. Gauge theories, as exemplified by electromagnetism, provide a framework for describing the fundamental forces of nature. In this talk, I will discuss the relationship between the apparently two difference concepts: quantum error correction and gauge theory.
